While the successful fashion designer has no problems against people who wear cosmetics, she feels it can potentially clog her skin.
In a recent interview with People magazine, the 34-year-old said: “I stay away from make-up because it clogs my skin. I know people [who] are so comfortable in makeup and they feel alive and that is what they love to do.”
She continued to say: “So I wouldn’t say that I am against it because I know people that really get joy and feel the most like themselves when they put on make-up. I feel the most like myself when I don’t have any on and so that’s the road that I go down. Some people love to wear make-up and that’s their thing. They like it. They’re comfortable in it. It’s not something that I would do. I like having a bare face. That’s me.”
Richie is among several other stars that enjoy going free of make-up. Alicia Keys has been seen at various events, including the MTV Video Music Awards, happily flaunting her natural looks. In fact, her upcoming role as a judge on The Voice shows the artist embracing her bare-faced style.
Keys had previously stated: “I don’t want to cover up anymore. Not my face, not my mind, not my soul, not my thoughts, not my dreams, not my struggles, not my emotional growth. Nothing.”
She had also recalled a photographer wishing to take pictures while she wasn’t yet ready, igniting her passion for living make-up free.
“I was shocked. Instantly, I became a bit nervous and slightly uncomfortable. My face was totally raw. I had on a sweatshirt! As far as I was concerned, this was my quick run-to-the-shoot-so-I-can-get-ready look, not the actual photoshoot look.”
This instantly made her feel more empowered and free, adding: “I swear it is the strongest, most empowered, most free, and most honestly beautiful that I have ever felt.”
