Lady Gaga says fame doesn’t make people happy

Lady Gaga adamantly believes that fame doesn’t make people happy, and in fact, the Bad Romance singer says celebrities have been put on a pedestal.

Speaking at a concert in London, the 30-year-old artist explained how kindness is much more important than anything else. She added: “Money has been put on a pedestal, beauty has been put on a pedestal, celebrity has been put on a pedestal. I have travelled the world and seen the happiest people in the poorest parts of the world.

Their values are intact. In the richest homes I meet the saddest and most depressed people. With this album I wanted to remind the whole world and my fans that the most important things are love and kindness. Kindness is what will create harmony, not celebrity and not fame.”

Meanwhile, Lady Gaga had recently confessed she doesn’t feel free as a celebrity, as people have a legal right to stalk her.

She shared: “I’m very acutely aware that once I cross that property line I’m not free anymore. As soon as I go out into the world, I belong, in a way, to everyone else.

It’s legal to follow me. It’s legal to stalk me at the beach. And I can’t call the police or ask them to leave. And I took a long hard look at that property line and I said, ‘Well, if I can’t be free out there, I can be free in [my heart].”

She even compared fame to a powerful drug, adding: “Fame is the best drug that’s ever existed. But once you realise who you are and what you care about, that need for more, more, more just goes away.

What matters is that I have a great family, I work hard, I take care of those around me, I provide jobs for people I love very much, and I make music that I hope sends a good message into the world.

I turned 30 this year, and I’m a fully formed woman. I have a clear perspective on what I want. That, for me, is success. I want to be somebody who is fighting for what’s true – not for more attention, more fame, more accolades.”
