Hugh Grant isn’t shy about his obsession with filming sex scenes. Although difficult in nature, he says they are always exciting.
The 56-year-old actor describes them almost as an art form, with the characters almost crossing the line between passion and disgust.
He shared with W magazine: “Love scenes are extremely difficult. You’re always within a millimeter of sentimentality and ‘yuck’. But sex scenes are something else!
The conventional response to sex scenes is that they’re horrible and not sexy and it’s all so unnatural. But I’ve always found filming sex scenes to be quite a turn-on. I like the experience of being in a sexual position when you’re not supposed to be in one.”
Meanwhile, he would also like to compete on Dancing with the Stars after having learned some moves for the movie Florence Foster Jenkins. However, he ultimately ruled out the possible appearance as he considers himself too classy.
“I had to learn to dance the Lindy Hop. That took four hard months, with ladies in leotards in a sweaty dance studio in London. They had to train me like a performing seal.
Secretly, deep down, I’d love to do [‘Dancing With The Stars‘] – it’s superb. But – damn it – I consider myself too classy.”
Grant touched upon his role in the 1994 hit Four Weddings and a Funeral, explaining that writer Richard Curtis didn’t want his character to be too attractive. Curtis went to great lengths to sabotage Grant’s looks, but the film nonetheless made him a recognizable heartthrob.
He said: “Well, Richard Curtis, the writer, didn’t want me in the film because he thought that the character should not be attractive – so they went to great lengths to make me look bad. I have terrible costumes in that film, and they gave me the worst haircut they could. How is that for ironic?”
